Symposium Overview

In celebration of 30 years as a leading multidisciplinary performing arts education institution in the region, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) will host an international symposium titled: Asian Transformation - New Perspectives on Creativity and Performing Arts Education. The Symposium will be held 20 – 22 November 2014 in the Academy’s Hong Kong Jockey Club Amphitheatre.

21st century Hong Kong is a dynamic and diverse cultural metropolis at a unique point of intersection between Asian and Western creative practice. With Asia ascendant on the world stage, Hong Kong’s identity as special administrative region of China and its rich cross-cultural influences ideally position it to explore new creative paradigms and their potential to shape the future of performing arts education.

The Symposium will host over 50 renowned international and local speakers, performers, and educators presenting a series of exciting performances, keynote addresses, and roundtable discussions, during daytime sessions and in special evening productions exploring cultural tradition, innovation, and transformation.

Simultaneous Translation (English, Putonghua and Cantonese) will be provided at the Symposium.
