The concept of life-long learning has recently been given renewed impetus by
the HKSAR Government, and the Academy is proud to be making its contribution
within the sphere of the performing arts, related technical arts, film and
television through the Academy's extra-mural studies programme, EXCEL.

Established in May 2001, EXCEL is dedicated to promote artistic excellence,
and enhance arts literacy, interest and appreciation through offering high
quality life-long learning / part time arts education programmes to the
general public of all age groups, as well as in-service professional
training to teachers, corporate clients, Government Departments and courses
designed for persons with disabilities, across the entire spectrum of
disciplines taught by the Academy. In the academic year of 2004-05, EXCEL
offered 332 courses over three terms, attracting a total of 6,894 students.
