| | Description: | Instructor: Ash NG Yun-hong Effective event management is the ability to synchronise all necessary elements to achieve defined objectives of an event.
On top of the fundamentals for planning, organising and managing an event, this course aims to provide the transferable skills from theatre production management and entertainment technology to equip participants with the up-to-date knowledge and practical skills to meet the challenges of events of different nature.
Most people with a few years of working experience can manage an event with common sense. However, in order to bring an event to life, the event manager needs to have a deeper understanding of which content elements to employ to achieve a specific outcome. The course instructor will use the 2008 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony in Beijing as a case study to help participants understand the magic of various theatre production management tools and entertainment technology. The options of activities for the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony could be limitless. Why was two thousand fou drums employed? Why engaged former Chinese gymnastics star Li Ning to carry the Olympic flame and why had him lifted to the air? How did all these work?
This course is useful for event managers and people engaged in theatre and stage productions. Interested participants of aged 16+ are welcome to join.
