The Academy selects applicants for admission on the basis of the General Entrance Requirements specified for the various academic programmes as well as applicants' talents, attainments and relevant training, if any, in the chosen disciplines. Applicants may be asked to attend an audition and/or an interview or to submit a portfolio or to sit an entry test or a combination of these as deemed necessary by the Schools which offer the respective programmes. Details of audition, interview and selection requirements are given under the School webpages.

Obtained in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE):
(a) Level 3 or above in English Language and Chinese Language; and
(b) Level 2 or above in Mathematics and Liberal Studies;
AND Preferably
(i) Level 2 or above in 1 elective subject; or
(ii) Attained with Distinction in 1 Applied Learning Subject #

Obtained Grade E or above in 5 subjects in Examination (HKCEE) including:
(a) Level 2 or above in English Language or Grade E or above in English Language (Syllabus B, taken before 2007) or Grade C or above in English Language (Syllabus A, taken before 2007); and
(b) Level 2 or above in Chinese Language or Grade E or above in Chinese Language (taken before 2007);
AND
Obtained one of the below qualifications:
(i) Obtained in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE):
Grade E or above in 2 A-Level subjects; or Grade E or above in 1 A-Level and 2 AS Level subjects other than Use of English and Chinese Language and Culture in the HKALE;
OR
(ii) A Diploma awarded by the Academy with satisfactory Grade Point Average (GPA) (Please refer to page 15 of the Prospectus for GPA requirements)
OR
(iii) A post-secondary two-year Diploma or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution.

Attainment of Mainland China second admission line in the National Joint College Entrance Examination (JEE) and a score of 90 or above in English in JEE.
OR
(a) At least 12 years of pre-university schooling on a full-time basis and a senior secondary school-leaving certificate; and
(b) A level of achievement in the chosen art discipline which is judged by the Academy to be comparable to the standard of the Diploma of the Academy.

Applicants who have
attained the age of 25 on or before 1 September of the year in
which admission is sought may be admitted on an individual and
exceptional basis if they have satisfied the following
requirements:
(a) HKCEE / HKDSEE entrance requirements for admission purposes; and
(b) Significant work or professional experience in area relevant to the chosen art discipline at a level of achievement which is judged by the Academy to be comparable to the standard of the Diploma of the Academy; and
(c) Fulfil the Academy's English Proficiency requirements.

The two-year Advanced Diploma programme
provides a completely integrated training to prepare and to qualify the students
for a professional career in their chosen art discipline. Programme is for those who have a Diploma but will not pursue further studies at
Degree level.
|
For admission to Diploma programmes, student should obtain in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE):
Level 2 or above in English Language, Chinese Language, and Liberal Studies;
AND Preferably
(i) Level 2 or above in 1 elective subject; or
(ii) Attained in 1 Applied Learning Subject #

In certain cases where applicants do not satisfy the normal entry requirements of the Diploma programmes, consideration will be given for those with artistic talents to enter the Certificate programme. The Certificate programme offers the same tuition and performance opportunities as the Diploma programmes but with reduced requirements in the support and academic studies.
|
|
|
The School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts offers a stream of Fast-track Vocational Certificate programme where students will be expected to pursue a full major study but the requirements in the support and academic studies within the programme will be reduced in appropriate cases in the light of previous accomplishment or preparation.

The period of application for admission in the academic year 2012/13 starts on Saturday 3 December 2011 and ends on Friday 16 March 2012.
Completed application forms should be submitted by mail or in person to the Academic Services and Student Affairs Office, 1 Gloucester Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. For application by post, the postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of application.
Each applicant should submit only one application. Subsequent application(s) from the same applicant (according to the date of receiving application) will not be processed and the application fee will not be refunded.

To obtain the Prospectus and Application Form by mail, please write to the Academic Services and Student Affairs Office of the Academy enclosing a self-addressed with recipient's name stamped (HK$ 8.2) envelope (A4 size). Non-Local
Applicants

Non-local applicants need to apply for a student visa to enter and stay in Hong Kong for the period of study. Application for a student visa usually takes up to 3 months to process. In the case of a non-local applicant who has entered Hong Kong on a visitor/tourist visa, the Academy will not register him as a student and will not allow him to commence his studies until he obtains a student visa.
In accordance with the laws of Hong Kong currently enforced, a non-local student who studies at the Academy on a student visa is not allowed to undertake any employment, whether paid or unpaid. Non-local Bachelor's and Master's Degree students with relevant "No Objection Letter" (NOL) issued by the HKSAR Immigration Department are permitted to take up part-time on-campus employment for not more than 20 hours a week through the academic year; and employment during the summer months (1 June to 31 August) without any limit in relation to nature of work, work hours and location.

The Academy follows the advice of University Grants Committee of the Government (UGC) in respect of tuition fee levels for Degree and non-Degree programmes. The tuition fees are announced by the Government each year.

Eligible students at the Academy may
apply for financial assistance under the Government's Local Student Finance
Scheme (LSFS) and/or Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (NLS). According to the
Government guidelines, full-time local students who have the right of abode
in Hong Kong or have resided or have had their homes in Hong Kong continuously
for three completed years immediately prior to the commencement of their
academic programmes at the Academy are eligible to apply.

are awarded by the Academy each year to both local and non-local students
on academic merit and/or financial need basis. These scholarships are donated
