Gabriel Kwok was an Associated Board Scholar at the Royal Academy of Music, London, studying with Guy Jonson and later with Louis Kentner. Since returning to Hong Kong in 1978, he has successfully combined the careers of teaching and performing, collaborating with many distinguished international artists such as Pierre Amoyal, Alan Civil, Albert Markov, Roberta Peters, Jean Pierre Rampal, Aaron Rosand, Nathaniel Rosen, Hansjoerg Schellenberger, Leon Spierer and Richard Stoltzman.

He is Visiting Professor at the Shenzhen Arts School, Xi¡Šan Conservatory of Music, Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Wuhan Conservatory of Music and has given many masterclasses in Mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore, Korea, as well as cities in Britain, Germany, the Netherland, USA, Australia and New Zealand. He was on the faculty at the Cliburn Piano Institute (USA), International Institute for Young Musicians (USA), Beijing International International Music Festival and Academy (China), Singapore International Piano Institute (Singapore) and Tel-Hai International Piano Master Classes (Israel). He has been on the panel of judges at many competitions including Asia Mozart Bicentary, Rome, Vianna da Motta, Gina Bachauer, Hong Kong, China, Missouri Southern, Hilton Head, Minnesota Piano-e, Darmstadt International Piano Competition. Gabriel Kwok joined The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 1987.
