15 October 2014 Category : Dance

Another feather in the Academy’s cap! The School of Dance has successfully bid to host the 2016 annual meeting of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS). Brenton Surgenor (Senior Lecturer in Dance Science) presented the bid to the IADMS Board of Directors in Basel, Switzerland on 15 October. The conference will put the Academy - and Hong Kong - on the international dance medicine and science map; and will bring the Hong Kong dance and movement sciences communities together to host what will undoubtedly be the best IADMS meeting on record! Former Dean of Dance, and now Dean of the College of Allied Arts, Professor Anita Donaldson, was delighted with the outcome: “the development of dance science - so important in the education and training of our young dance artists - is a key strategic priority in the School: being awarded the bid confirms our leadership in this field in the Asian region”.
