The School of Music at the Academy offers comprehensive full-time programmes, including Diploma, BMus, MMus, and a new doctoral degree (expected 2027), alongside its highly successful Junior Music Programme – comparable to the ‘Junior Schools’ of other world-leading conservatoires. In keeping with its conservatoire status, the School’s philosophy is centred on performance and reflects the unique cultural mix of Hong Kong, with emphasis on both Western and Chinese traditions. The School comprises the Departments of Strings, Keyboard, Voice, Woodwind/Brass/Percussion (‘WBP’), Composition, Chinese Music, Conducting and Cultural Leadership, Academic Studies and Junior Music.
The Head of Composition will be a distinguished performing arts practitioner and/or composer-performer, dedicated to shaping the future of the Composition Department within the School of Music. Building on the department’s existing strengths, the Head will work collaboratively with other senior staff to drive forward innovative developments in performing arts education. This includes fostering advancements in electronic music production, music for applied media, and cross-disciplinary collaborations, ensuring the School remains at the forefront of creative and educational excellence.
Reporting to the Dean of the School of Music, the appointee is expected to oversee the Composition Department and be responsible for teaching, academic leadership and quality assurance in Composition teaching across all levels and programmes. The appointee is expected to lead curriculum design, course review and development in the Composition Department, undertake academic advising and supervision of Undergraduate and Postgraduate research projects, and strengthen the School’s international networks and collaborative projects.
Applicants should have:
(a) A recognised degree in Music or equivalent qualification (preferably a doctoral degree in Composition studies or relevant disciplines).
(b) A strong professional background and extensive professional experience as a composer and an educator.
(c) In-depth knowledge of current music composition trends, pedagogical approaches, and performance practices in composition, including writing for applied media, inter-disciplinary ensembles, the recording studio, etc.
(d) Internationally recognised standing and good industry network.
(e) An excellent teaching record in conservatoire/university contexts across undergraduate, postgraduate, and pre-college music programmes.
(f) A successful track record of leadership and ability within an educational institution or similar performing arts-based organisation, including evidence in curriculum design, implementation and programme development according to established quality assurance frameworks.
(g) Solid experience in managing teams and collaborative work in the cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary context.
(h) The ability to advise and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
(i) Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
(j) A good command of both written and spoken English. Fluency in Chinese (including Putonghua and Cantonese) is an advantage.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Appointment will be on a two-year contract. Renewal of contract is subject to performance. A gratuity payment equal to up to 15% of the total basic salary earned during the contract period may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period. The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Academy’s contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, equals 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. The postholder is responsible for teaching and developing curriculum in Contemporary Dance Technique and other courses at all levels and for choreographing work for student productions for the Academy's performances as well as for tours. He/She is also responsible for providing administrative support to the Head of Contemporary Dance by assisting in the planning, scheduling, curriculum development, staff development, assessment, and evaluation of all aspects of the contemporary dance programme.
Applicants should have:
Advanced-level academic qualifications in dance studies (preferably with a postgraduate qualification); and normally a minimum of five years’ experience in teaching in contemporary dance, including teaching at University and Master’s level.
Proven experience in administrative/management of contemporary dance or equivalent.
Proven ability to be a team player and leader within a programme.
Demonstrated commitment to the scholarship of learning and teaching, as well as practice-based research.
Dedication to the integration of theory and practice within curriculum content and employing innovative teaching practices, including e-learning.
Solid understanding of contemporary dance practice, and current developments in the discipline, particularly as they relate to practice-based research.
Experience in curriculum design and teaching in a multi-cultural context.

The School of Dance of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts will organize a Community Dance Project (the ‘Project’) from September 2025 for 3 years. The Project is funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and aims to include people with Parkinson’s Disease through dance in the artistic and social life of Hong Kong. The project includes four core components: Train-the-Trainers Programme, Community Dance Workshops, Teaching Resource Development and Impact Studies.
The postholder will execute administrative duties and daily project coordination, including accounting and procurement procedures, booking of venue and equipment, project costing and reporting, and management of social media platform and digital technologies, and to perform routine office duties.

The School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts offers a dynamic range of production-related courses in performing and entertainment arts. The postholder will be responsible for producing high quality scenery for Academy productions and for teaching courses in scenic construction, technology and management. The postholder will manage the scenic construction workshop and staff, collaborating with other departments to ensure safe working practices are strongly adhered to in the workshops and theatres. In addition, the postholder will assist with curriculum planning and course development for the School’s sub-degree and undergraduate programmes.

Essential Criteria
(a) A relevant degree and/or professional training/experience to an equivalent level;
(b) Normally, 4 years’ experience of teaching and 4 years’ professional experience in scenic construction and workshop management;
(c) Extensive experience with computer-aided design software;

Education Information Technology (EDuIT) is a group of experts fluent in pedagogy and technology at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Its mission is to support and foster innovative teaching, learning, and practice in the context of performing arts, with integration of emerging technologies.
We are seeking to recruit a Senior Project Manager (Digital Learning) to play a key role in implementing the Academy's digital learning strategy under the leadership of the Principal Head (Digital Learning). The postholder will be a forward-thinking professional who works collaboratively with academic departments, library and the Registry to design, develop, and evaluate technology-enhanced learning initiatives.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing digital learning projects from conception to delivery; providing pedagogical and technical expertise to support blended and online course development; and leading the production of online learning projects such as Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) or Small Private Online Course (SPOC). A key part of the role is to foster collaboration across Schools to enable technology-supported, interdisciplinary projects that enhance outcome-based education, and to work with the Academy Library to ensure synergy between digital resources and learning initiatives.
The postholder will organise training workshops, seminars, and showcases to build digital capability; assist in programme evaluation, learning assessment, and data analytics to support evidence-based decision-making; and contribute to strategic planning and reports. The postholder will work closely with the Principal Head (Digital Learning), other academic staff, and departments on various innovative learning technologies, projects, and events.

(a) A recognised master's degree or above in education or communication, preferably a higher degree in educational technology, instructional design or related discipline;
(b) Normally, at least 5 years of post-qualification experience in managing educational projects, teaching and learning, and the production of e-learning materials at the tertiary level;
(c) Solid experience in educational technology and a strong ability to advocate for digital learning tools and techniques. Familiarity with a blended approach to staff development, incorporating face-to-face training, e-learning, and virtual support;
(d) Familiar with a blended approach for learning which incorporates face-to-face training, e-learning, virtual, and one-to-one where appropriate. This will involve both formal and informal teaching and support;
(e) A successful track record of experience in developing learning solutions, including the development of user guides, online resources, multimedia content, video, and face-to-face teaching with staff, both individually and in groups;
(f) Demonstrated working knowledge of eLearning development tools and LMS management is desirable;
(g) Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, preferably native English speaker or equivalent; and
(h) Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Appointment will be on a two-year renewable contract, subject to performance and mutual agreement. A gratuity payment equals up to 15% of the total basic salary earned during the contract period, may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract. The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Academy’s contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, that equals 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits. The starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The postholder will be responsible to the Supplies Manager. He/She is required to carry out duties relating to the purchasing and supply activities in the Supplies Office which shall include but not limited to the followings: -
(a) To conduct the quotation exercises for procurement of goods and /or services.
(b) To handle inventory record maintenance and fixed assets management.
(c) To carry out clerical duties and any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Applicants should:
(a) Have a Higher Diploma or Degree in Purchasing and Supply Management or other related discipline;
(b) Have at least one year work experience in a sizeable organization / education institutions is preferred;
(c) Preferably have experience in preparing RFQ/tender documents and in operating inventory control or fixed asset management system;

(f) Have good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; and
(g) Be attentive to details and able to work under pressure to meet the deadline.
Fresh graduate with high enthusiasm in related discipline would also be considered.
