To strengthen its communication efforts, the School of Music is seeking a Communications Specialist on a one-year, renewable contract. This role is integral to enhancing the School’s public visibility, promoting student achievements, and fostering meaningful connections within and beyond the Academy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Development and Management
- Create engaging written, visual, and multimedia content to highlight student performances, projects, and collaborations.
- Document key events and activities through photography and other media for promotional use.
- Develop and distribute a monthly newsletter featuring the School’s achievements and updates.
- Maintain and regularly update the School’s website and social media platforms with dynamic, consistent content.
Public Relations and Outreach
- Build and nurture relationships with media outlets, alumni networks, and external stakeholders to amplify the School’s visibility, as well as collaborating with the Central Communications Office and other Academy offices engaged in publicity.
- Coordinate press releases, interviews, and media coverage for significant events and projects.
Event Promotion
- Plan and execute promotional campaigns for performances, lectures, and workshops.
- Design and produce promotional materials, including posters, event programs, and digital advertisements.
Strategic Planning and Reporting
- Collaborate with the Dean and academic teams to align communication strategies with institutional objectives.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication campaigns, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
Other Responsibilities
- Participate in committee work and other institutional activities.
- Undertake tasks assigned by the Dean or other supervisors as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
(a) A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
(b) Normally a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in communications, preferably in arts, education, or nonprofit sectors.
(c) Familiarity with digital marketing tools, including website management systems (e.g., WordPress), social media platforms, and email marketing software.
(d) Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently.
(e) Fluency in English, Cantonese and Putonghua.
(f) A passion for music, arts, and education.

The Head of Ballet reports to the Dean of the School of Dance. This position entails providing pedagogic, creative and artistic leadership across all levels and courses in Ballet offered by the School. Responsibilities include curriculum development for the Ballet programmes and the selection and development of repertoire for public performances and tours. Additionally, the Head will provide administrative support to the Dean in matters of scheduling, course evaluation, assessment, student mentoring, committee work, staff development, and planning.
The Head of Ballet is required to teach Ballet specialisation related courses such as Ballet Technique and at least one of the following areas: Dance Pedagogy or Ballet Pedagogy, Pointe Work, Male Technique, Ballet Repertory, Partnering, Creative Work, Dance History or Ballet History. The successful candidate will serve on the School’s Management Committee and lead the Ballet department. The Head will be expected to play a strategic role in the further development of Ballet within the School, aligning with the Academy’s new strategic plan and School priorities, particularly concerning research in practice-based programmes.
The Head will also be committed to fostering strong connections with professional dance community at local, regional and international levels, engaging in professional development, and staying current with trends in professional dance training and scholarship. Additional duties may be assigned by the Dean from time to time.
Applicants should have:
(a) Advanced-level academic qualifications in dance studies (preferably with a postgraduate qualification); and normally a minimum of eight years' experience in teaching in Ballet specialisation, including teaching at University and Master’s level;
(b) Substantial academic leadership and administrative/management experience in a Ballet specialisation or equivalent;
(c) Proven ability to be a team player and leader within a programme;
(d) Demonstrated commitment to the scholarship of learning and teaching, as well as practice-based research;

The Information Technology Officer (Infrastructure) will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the Academy’s IT infrastructure, including campus network, network devices, servers and database. The postholder shall be capable of monitoring centrally administered systems and networks and responding immediately to security or usability concerns. The postholder will manage the hardware and software inventory and relevant system upgrade and acquisition.
Requirements:
(a) A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related disciplines;
(b) Normally at least 5 years’ IT work experience in a sizeable company and at least 3 years’ experience in system administration;
(c) Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in configuring and administering the following:
• Switches/routers, cabling, IT closets, firewalls, IPS, load balancer, wireless APs and controller, email appliance, and antivirus solution;
• Microsoft Windows Servers, ADFS, Active Directory, SCCM, Microsoft Intune, Veeam, SAN and Linux Server;
• Microsoft Azure AD, M365;
• Virtualisation technology and network security technology;
(d) Experience in carrying out production jobs, data backup/recovery and other scheduled tasks;
(e) Previous experience in developing server-side automation scripts is an advantage;

Reporting to Assistant Librarian I (Technical Services), the Library Officer is responsible for assisting in the management and maintenance of the Library’s resources in all formats (physical, digital, and online). The role also involves day to day management of electronic resources and serials, including access control, troubleshooting, subscriptions, renewals, budgeting, and liaison with suppliers and academic departments. The postholder will be required to work in both the Wanchai and Bethanie Campus and may need to work on evenings, weekends and public holidays.

They will assist in front-of-house and venue management duties for performances and events hosted in the Academy venues. Appointment will be on a one-year basis. The Academy is establishing a three-year Special Project Team under the Director’s Office to support the strategic implementation of the Academy’s 2024–2033 Strategic Plan. The team will oversee the Academy’s signature projects, provide centralised project support across the institution, and drive key cross-Academy initiatives. We are now seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to lead this new team and play a pivotal role in advancing the Academy’s long-term strategic priorities.
Reporting to the Director’s Office, this role primarily involves planning, delivering, and managing two key institutional initiatives: the Academy-wide Sustainability Project and strategic planning for the future innovation hub. The Project Manager will also oversee signature projects within the Academy, leading the Project Team to collaborate closely with the Schools and other departments to ensure effective planning, coordination, delivery, and reporting. The role requires close cooperation with Directorate Offices, Schools, and central administrative units to promote cross-functional engagement, align resources, and guarantee that all projects meet the Academy’s strategic goals.

(a) A bachelor’s degree from a tertiary institution;
(b) At least 8 years of experience in arts programme/project management and/or arts & creative industry leadership roles;
(c) Proven experience in stakeholder management, cross-unit collaboration, and project oversight;

Jockey Club Dance Well Project is a creative movement programme designed to include those with Parkinson's disease and people of different ages and abilities through regular dance classes and activities in artistic spaces, with the belief that dance can make meaningful contributions to society, life, and the human condition. Initiated by the School of Dance at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, this three-year project is funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and is modelled after the Dance Well initiative introduced by the Municipality of Bassano del Grappa, Italy and the Centro per la Scena Contemporanea in 2013. The practice has since been extended to other Italian cities and beyond. It was introduced to Hong Kong to bring an inclusive dance experience to the Hong Kong public.
The School of Dance will collaborate with the Performing Arts Research Department to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the Project. The impact study will evaluate whether the programme leads to increased participation and appreciation in art and culture; improved mental well-being; strong social connections; and enhanced overall quality of life.
We invite applications for a full-time Research Officer to manage the impact evaluation of the Jockey Club Dance Well Project. The appointee will report to research faculty of the Department of Performing Arts Research and provide end-to-end research support across the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities:
• Project Management: Coordinate day-to-day research activities, timelines, participant recruitment, and stakeholder communications.
• Study Design: Contribute to survey and interview protocol development, sampling strategy, and ethical submissions.
• Data Collection: Administer surveys, conduct semi-structured interviews and focus groups, and manage fieldwork logistics.
• Data Management and Analysis: Clean and code quantitative and qualitative data; perform statistical analyses and thematic analysis; maintain secure data records.
• Reporting and Dissemination: Draft technical reports, prepare executive summaries, produce visualisations, and present findings to academic and community partners.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure methodological rigour, adherence to ethical standards, and fidelity to study 'protocols.
Requirements:
• A recognised bachelor's degree, or preferably a master's degree, in a social science discipline (psychology, education, sociology, social statistics, or related);
• Normally at least 2 years of applied research experience, preferably in health, arts-in-health, community, or social research contexts; and
• Demonstrable experience with both quantitative (survey design, basic statistical analysis) and qualitative (interviews, focus groups, thematic coding) methods.
Specific skills and attributes:
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with statistical software and qualitative analysis tools is preferred.
• Communication: Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to write clear reports and present to diverse audiences.
• Interpersonal: Empathetic, culturally sensitive approach when working with older adults and clinical populations.
• Planning & Organisation: Exc'ellent time management, attention to detail, and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and stakeholders.
