Biography

Ingrid Proos is a Senior Lecturer in Costume Technology who joined the HKAPA in August 2015. 

A native Estonian, Ingrid began her career in the US, where she studied, lived and worked until 2008. During her stay, she designed, supervised, and constructed costumes for over 150 productions and designed several sets. During the 2001-2008 summer seasons, Ingrid served as a designer and costume shop manager for Premiere Stages in New Jersey, a theatre dedicated to new play development.

After moving to Australia, from 2009-2011, Ingrid worked as the Costume Shop Manager and Costume Design Lecturer at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. She also designed and made costumes for Shakespeare WA for four summer seasons and conducted several costume workshops via Black Swan Theatre Company for Perth schools.

After she left Australia for Switzerland, Ingrid lived and worked in Lugano as a freelance designer and costume technician for several years before coming to Hong Kong. 

She holds a BFA in Production/Design and an MA in Theatre Studies from Montclair State University.
