The first "Performing Arts Marathon @ Sham Shui Po" community arts project organized by the Performing Arts Education Centre of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) aims tobring performing arts into the community, and highlights that arts education be centred on daily life, fuse with the social and cultural context, consolidate the sense of community, and improve as well as invigorate the local cultural life.The programmeis in its final stage. After six months of various arts activities engagement, more than 200 participating students from Sham Shui Po district will perform and parade together with the Academy's faculties, students and alumni, professional performing arts groups and artists at various locations in Sham Shui Po district on 13 May (Sunday).

Various Performances and Arts Stalls
Performances from various arts groups include music, drama, dance, puppetry, excerpt of musical and Cantonese opera; arts stalls include stage makeup, skill swap, sand painting, paper tearing art and musical instruments demonstration. Maple Street Playground (MTR Sham Shui Po Station Exit A)

Site-specific Dance
*Performance runs for approx. 1 hour
Teachers and students from School of Dance of the HKAPA collaborate with participating students jointly create a site-specific dance to showcase the diversity of Sham Shui Po through the interaction between theenvironment and dance movement.(For more information of the Site-specific Dance, please click here) Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre (MTR Shek Kip Mei Station Exit C)

Chinese Music Performance and Cantonese Opera
Lingnan Garden in Lai Chi Kok Park is the unique park constructed in classical Lingnan style. Different performance groups will perform Chinese music and Cantonese opera at the exquisite pavilions in the park. LingnanGarden in LaiChiKokPark (MTR Mei Foo Station Exit A)

Arts Parade
Taking the characteristics of Sham Shui Po as its theme, the parade includes dragon dance, flag parade, costumes and props demonstration, and percussion performance,which showcase the vitality and creativity of arts. Cheung Sha Wan Road (from Wong Chuk Street to Yen Chow Street) and near Maple Street Playground 
10am – 6pm

Exhibition and Video Screening of Stories about Sham Shui Po
Representing the unique culture and stories in Sham Shui Po, the exhibition and video screening showcase participating students' creativity and fruitful learning outcomes. Graduation Projects from the School of Film and Television of HKAPA will also be screened.
*Exhibition and video screening start from 7 May to 13 May at Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre.
