About the Programme

‘Stride Forward’ Performing Arts Workshop

‘Stride Forward’ Performing Arts Workshop at Phase Two of the Project recruited students and community members to take part. Between October 2013 and mid-February 2014, 30 to 40 hours of performing arts workshops are organized in schools and community centres. In the workshops, participants explore the subject matters in 'The Butterfly Lovers' in the eyes of arts by means of different media (e.g. drama, video, dance and movement). Discussion topics include tradition and innovation, gender and identity, equality and discrimination, learning and heritage, institution and family, and social culture and campus life. After getting inspiration for their creative works, participants go further into their chosen topic and have rehearsals.

'Unframing Arts' Day Camp

Participants who have joined the ‘Stride Forward’ Performing Arts Workshops are to present on 23 February 2014 at the Day Camp held at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Their works are staged on professional venues, where the learning outcomes can be shared and exchanged. The presentations also prepare participants for the performances at the Final Phase.
