Dr Melina Scialom holds a PhD in Dance Studies, University of Roehampton UK, Specialist in Choreological Studies from Trinity Laban UK, Master in Performing Arts by the Federal University of Bahia - UFBA, Brazil, Bachelor in Dance and Licensed in Dance Teaching by the State University of Campinas - UNICAMP, Brazil.
She holds expertise in Choreological Studies (Rudolf Laban praxis), somatic and performer training practices as well as movement direction and dance dramaturgy.
She has been a research fellow at Concordia University (Montreal, CA), at Utrecht University (Netherlands) and Federal University of Bahia (Brazil). She has been a Postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the State University of Campinas (Brazil). She is part of different international research groups and co-convenor of the Embodied Research Working Group (IFTR) and Somatics and Practice as Research working group (ANDA). She has been awarded different sponsorships and bursaries from research and arts funding agencies.
