Mr WRIGHT, Timothy
Senior Lecturer (Property Making)
Tim Wright is a Senior Lecturer of the Property Making Department.
Tim received his initial theatre training at the Motley Theatre Design School, Drury Lane, London. Between 1997 and 2007, he was employed as a freelance maker by various workshops, working on projects ranging from special effects, modelmaking, museum installations, prop making for film and television, and set/furniture construction.
In 2007, Tim joined the Royal Opera House’s Props Department in Covent Garden, London, specialising in joinery and metal fabrication. He has worked on numerous ballet and opera productions designed by notable theatre designers such as Alison Chitty, John McFarlane, and Es Devlin. Whilst at the Royal Opera House, Tim was also responsible for training apprentices and young makers who were just starting out in the profession. This experience led him to take up his post at the HKAPA.
Tim holds a BA (Hons) in Visual Arts from De Montfort University, Leicester, UK.
Tim’s future ambitions are to build upon the strong traditional skills taught in the HKAPA Property Making course, to enhance the digital fabrication elements of the course, and to continually improve his own practical and artistic skills.
