INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY ENHANCED LEARNING IN THE PERFORMING ARTS

FULL-TIME

 ‘The iHub’ (Innovative Technology Enhanced Learning in the Performing Arts) is a newly established department at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a remit to enhance the quality of performing arts education programmes delivery through adopting innovative, student centered, educational methodologies and integration of emerging technologies. This department will support staff and students to make use of information and communications technology effectively in education and to develop and implement innovative teaching and learning strategies. It aims to establish the Academy as a leader in the development, support and implementation of innovative Performing Arts Education Technology Practices in the Asia Pacific Regions.

Applications are invited for the positions under its EXPAND, ENRICH and ENABLE teams of the iHub:

ENRICH TEAM – Educational Design, Research and Evaluation Team of the iHub is responsible for pedagogical design and evaluation support, quality assurance and research on emerging technology for performing arts education.

(1)   SENIOR EDUCATIONAL DESIGNER                                   Ref:SEduDe
(2)   EDUCATIONAL DESIGNER                                                   Ref: EduDe

The Senior Educational Designer is accountable to the Head of iHub and will provide significant pedagogical leadership and oversight into the iHub’s various eLearning initiatives.  Main duties include overseeing and contributing to the pedagogical input within the work of the iHub, managing the work of the ENRICH Team, liaison work with schools/departments, coordination of a Community of Practice within a respective College, provision of training and other tasks as delegated by the Head of iHub as and when required.

The Educational Designer  is accountable to the Senior Educational Designer / Head of iHub and will provide pedagogical support and development into the iHub’s various eLearning initiatives. This position sits within the Educational Design, Research and Evaluation Team (The ENRICH Team). Main duties include overseeing and contributing to the pedagogical input within the work of the iHub, contributing to the Educational Design, Research and Evaluation work  of the ENRICH Team,  liaison work with schools / departments, coordination of a Community of Practice within a respective College, provision of training and other tasks as delegated by the Senior Educational Designer / Head of iHub as and when required.

Applicants for Senior Educational Designer should have:
(a) a recognized degree from a tertiary institution;
(b) extensive experience in managing and contributing to large scale eLearning pedagogically driven projects; (with experience in Learning Space Design, Graduate Capabilities, Outcomes Based Education and an understanding of practice, theory and research in these areas being an advantage);
(c) strong presentation, analytical and written skills in English, proficiency in Cantonese and Putonghua an advantage;
(d) extensive experience in pedagogical support of Learning Management Systems and eLearning IT Application development and IT Quality Assurance Processes (AGILE, ITTL, Prince 2)/Instructional Design processes (such as ADDIE, , etc);
(e) an extensive understanding of current trends in technology enhanced learning (with experience in the performing arts and/or a knowledge of performing arts education being an advantage);
(f) strong organizational, team and communication skills.

Applicants for Educational Designer should have:
(a) a recognized degree from a tertiary institution;
(b) experience in managing and contributing to large scale eLearning pedagogically driven projects (with experience in Learning Space Design and an understanding of practice, theory and research in this area would be an advantage);
(c) have strong presentation, analytical and written skills in English , proficiency in Cantonese and Putonghua an advantage;
(d) extensive experience in pedagogical support of Learning Management Systems and eLearning IT Application development and IT Quality Assurance Processes, Instructional Design processes (such as ADDIE,  AGILE, ITTL, Prince 2..etc);
(e) an extensive understanding of current trends in technology enhanced learning (with experience in the performing arts and / or a knowledge of performing arts education being an advantage);
(f) strong organizational, team and communication skills.

Offer of appointment as Senior Educational Designer or Educational Designer will depend on the applicants’ level of experience.

(3)   RESEARCH AND INNOVATION OFFICER                               Ref: RIO
The Research and Innovation Officer is accountable to the Senior Educational Designer. Main duties include overseeing and contributing to the research outputs of the pedagogical input within the work of the iHub, contributing to the ENRICH Team, liaison work with schools/departments, and recommendations on technology and innovative pedagogy within Performing Arts and other tasks as delegated by the Senior Educational Designer/Head of iHub as and when required.

Applicants should have:
(a)  a recognized degree from a tertiary institution;
(b) experience in contributing to research incorporating large scale eLearning pedagogically driven projects (ideally with experience in the innovative use of technology to support pedagogy and an understanding of practice, theory and research approaches in this area would be an advantage);
(c) have strong presentation, analytical and written skills in English, proficiency in Cantonese and Putonghua an advantage;
(d) extensive experience in preparing written research reports, evaluation of eLearning pedagogically driven projects and qualitative and quantitative data analysis;
(e) an extensive understanding of current trends in technology enhanced learning (with experience in the performing arts and/or a knowledge of performing arts education being an advantage);
(f)   strong organizational, team and communication skills.

(4)   EVALUATION OFFICER (ENRICH)                                        Ref: EvaO
The Evaluation Officer is accountable to the Senior Educational Designer and will provide support and development into the iHub’s various eLearning research initiatives with a particular focus on evaluation of technology enabled innovation in Performing Arts Education.  Main duties include overseeing and contributing to the research outputs of the pedagogical input within the work of the iHub, contributing to the ENRICH Team, liaison work with schools/departments, and recommendations on appropriate approaches and methodology in evaluating technology and innovative pedagogy within Performing Arts; and other tasks as delegated by the Senior Educational Designer/Head of iHub as and when required.

Applicants should have:
(a) a recognized degree from a tertiary institution;
(b) experience in contributing to the evaluation of large scale eLearning pedagogically driven projects (ideally with experience in the innovative use of technology to support pedagogy and an understanding of practice, theory and evaluation approaches in this area would be an advantage);
(c) have strong presentation, analytical and written skills in English, proficiency in Cantonese and Putonghua an advantage;
(d) experience in the mapping, tracking and evaluation of the quality of student learning outcomes as impacted through technology enhanced learning.  This should ideally connect with the professional career profiling of APA graduates and graduate capabilities;
(e) extensive experience in preparing written evaluation reports, evaluation of eLearning pedagogically driven projects and qualitative and quantitative data analysis/survey design;
(f) an extensive understanding of current trends in technology enhanced learning (with experience in the performing arts and/or a knowledge of performing arts education being an advantage);
(g) strong organizational, team and communication skills.


EXPAND TEAM – Multimedia Design and Production Team of the iHub is responsible for e-course media development, (print, web, video, animation) support for on-line course delivery, audio-visual equipment support, on-line repository and advice on learning space and its design.

(5)       PROJECT MANAGER (EXPAND)                                         Ref: PjM
The Project Manager is accountable to the Head of iHub and will provide project management, leadership and oversight in to the iHub’s various eLearning Projects across IT development, Graphic Design and Multimedia/Video development and Educational Design/Evaluation activities.  This is a senior position and sits within the EXPAND Team.  Main duties include overseeing the broad project work of the iHub, managing the Multimedia Design/Graphic Design and Video production work of the EXPAND Team, liaison work with schools/departments, and other tasks as delegated by the Head of iHub as and when required.

Applicants should have:
(a) a recognized degree from a tertiary institution;
(b) experience in managing large scale eLearning institutional multimedia/graphic design/video production projects; (experience in Learning Space Design and managing Video production projects would be an advantage);
(c) strong oral and written skills in English, proficiency in Cantonese and Putonghua an advantage;
(d) extensive experience in the project management of Learning Management Systems and eLearning IT Application development and IT Quality Assurance Processes (such as AGILE, ITTL, Prince 2, etc);
(e) high level organizational, team and communication skills.

(6)   SENIOR DESIGNER (EXPAND)                             Ref: SD(EXPAND)
The Senior Designer reports to the Project Manager. Main duties include Graphic Design/Multimedia Development/Website development and Video Production support for various eLearning projects across the Academy.  This role will work closely with teaching staff /Educational Designers and the Technical development team in the creation of eLearning resources, and other tasks as delegated by the Project Manager/Head of iHub as and when required.

Applicants should have:
(a) a recognized degree from a tertiary institution;
(b) experience in developing multimedia resources for large scale eLearning institutional initiatives;
(c) extensive experience in industry standard design applications (such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Premiere/Final Cut Pro; experience in video production/lighting/sound would be an advantage);
(d) strong oral and written skills in English, proficiency in Cantonese and Putonghua an advantage;
(e) extensive experience in working on Learning Management Systems, Drupal, Open source CMS and eLearning IT Application development and IT/Graphic Design Development Quality Assurance Processes (such as AGILE, ITTL, Prince 2, etc);
(f) strong organizational, team and communication skills.

(7)   DESIGNER (EXPAND)/ VIDEOGRAPHER         Ref: De/Vid(EXPAND)
(8)   DESIGNER (EXPAND)                                                Ref: De(EXPAND)

Main duties include Graphic Design/Multimedia Development/Website Development and Video Production support for various eLearning projects across the Academy.  This role will work closely with teaching staff/Educational Designers and the Technical development team in the creation of eLearning resources, and other tasks as delegated by the Project Manager/Head of iHub as and when required.

Applicants should have:
(a) a recognized degree from a tertiary institution;
(b) experience in developing multimedia resources for large scale eLearning institutional initiatives;

ENABLE TEAM – IT Management & System Development Team of the iHub is responsible for Learning Management System support, Learning Management System Development, Mobile Development and collaboration on training for teachers, technical programming.

(9)   ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER (ENABLE)      Ref: APjM(ENABLE)
The Assistant Project Manager is accountable to the Head of iHub and will provide oversight, leadership and input into the ENABLE Team.  Main duties include assisting the Project Manager of the iHub, overseeing the technical work of the iHub,, coordinating the marketing and promotion of the iHub activities, liaison work with schools/departments, and other tasks as delegated by the Head of iHub as and when required.

Applicants should have:
(a) a recognized degree from a tertiary institution;
(b) experience in supporting large scale eLearning institutional technical projects;
(c) strong oral and written skills in English, proficiency in Cantonese and Putonghua an advantage;
(d) extensive experience in working on eLearning institutional culture change projects Learning Management Systems and marketing of eLearning pedagogically driven activities, (an understanding of eLearning IT Application development and IT Quality Assurance Processes such as AGILE, ITTL, Prince 2, would be an advantage);
(e) strong organizational, team and communication skills.

(10)  SENIOR TECHNICIAN (ENABLE)                         Ref: STech(ENABLE)
The Senior Technician is accountable to the Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager.  Main duties include technical support for the Learning Management System, technical support for Video production / eLearning application development, technical support and provision of training (in collaboration with an Educational Designer) liaison work with schools/departments, and other tasks as delegated by the Head of iHub as and when required. It is envisioned that this role will work closely in collaboration with Graphic and Multimedia/Videographer iHub staff in the support of eLearning resource development.

Applicants should have:
(a) a recognized degree from a tertiary institution;
(b) experience in IT development and support of Learning Management Systems, video / flipped classroom approaches and development of large scale eLearning institutional technical projects;
(c) strong oral and written skills in English, proficiency in Cantonese and Putonghua an advantage;
(d)  extensive experience in working on Learning Management Systems and eLearning IT Application development and IT quality Assurance Processes (such as AGILE, ITTL, Prince 2, etc);
 (e) strong organizational, team and communication skills.

(11) TECHNICIAN (ENABLE)   (2 posts)                        Ref:Tech(ENABLE)
The Technician role is accountable to the Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager.  Main duties include technical support for the development of the Learning Management System, Learning Analytics, eLearning application development, technical support and provision of training (in collaboration with an Educational Designer), undertake system development including programming, testing, implementation and related system maintenance, enhancement and support tasks, assist in user requirement analysis and system design; prepare related system specifications and documentations; and liaison work with schools/departments, and other tasks as delegated by the Head of iHub as and when required. It is envisioned that this role will work closely in collaboration with Graphic and Multimedia/Videographer Hub staff in the support of eLearning resource development.

Applicants should have:
(a) a recognized degree from tertiary institution;
(b) experience in developing and supporting large scale eLearning institutional technical projects (experience in working with AV/Video production systems, Learning Management Systems and/or Mobile application development would be an advantage);
(c) strong oral and written skills in English, proficiency in Cantonese and Putonghua an advantage;
(d) experience in working on Learning Management Systems and eLearning IT Application development and IT Quality Assurance Processes (such as AGILE, ITTL, Prince 2, etc);
(e) knowledge of experience in developing web and mobile applications (Flash and Flex an advantage);
(f) strong organizational, team and communication skills.


ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT

(12)  EXECUTIVE OFFICER (iHub)                                           Ref: EO(iHub)
The Executive Officer for “The iHub” is accountable to the Head of iHub and will provide administrative support to the newly established unit.  Main duties include overseeing the daily office operation and management of the iHub, liaison work with schools/departments, secretariat service for meetings, general executive and administrative service for the Head of iHub and translation work as and when required.

Applicants should have: 
(a) a recognized degree from a tertiary institution;
(b) at least five years of post-qualification experience;
(c) experience in supporting large scale eLearning institutional projects (administration, marketing, budget, liaison);
(d) input data, compile reports and evaluations, as well as draft relevant documents in support of the iHub’s activities;
(e) provide logistics support of events and functions;
(f) strong oral and written skills in English and Chinese, proficiency in Putonghua an advantage;
(g) good knowledge of computer applications;
(h)  strong organizational, team and communication skills.


TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Appointments will be made on a two-year contract. Further appointment will depend on provision of funding at the prevailing time.  A gratuity payment will be payable upon satisfactory completion of contract. Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits.  Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
