PROGRAMME MANAGER
The Orchestra Academy (TOA) Hong Kong is a new initiative created jointly by the HK Phil and HKAPA School of Music. It is an orchestral training programme offering young aspiring orchestral musicians from the HKAPA to engage in a variety of activities including a fellowship programme with HK Phil as well as exploring state-of-the-art concert presentations and designs with the newly-formed Young Pro Platform.
The Programme Manager reports to the Directors of TOA – the Head of Conducting & Cultural Leadership of the School of Music at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Chief Executive of The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. He/She will be contracted by The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and posted at the Academy. He/She is responsible for planning and executing all activities related to The Orchestra Academy Hong Kong (TOA), jointly managed by The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil) including but not limited to marketing and publicity; recruitment and audition; schedule planning and orchestra roster; concert production; and administrative, finance and report.
Qualifications:
(a) University graduate from Music or Arts Management with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in music or performing arts organization.
(b) Background knowledge in orchestral repertoire, instrumentation, and general rehearsal and performance procedures.
(c) Experience or knowledge in e-marketing and website management.
(d) Good interpersonal and communication skills to work with different parties.
(e) Strong management in time and multi-tasking in meeting tight deadlines.
(f) Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese.
(g) Initiative, assertive and creative to enhance the output of your service.
(h) Capable of working under pressure.
(i) Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team who is able to remain flexible in quickly-changing circumstances.
(j) Prior experience in orchestra setting would be an advantage.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Appointment will be for the period from February 2023 to September 2024. Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
