The 33rd Graduation Ceremony of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (the Academy) hosted its 33rd  Graduation Ceremony today. The ceremony was officiated by Council Chairman Professor Stephen Chow Chun-kay GBS JP. The ceremony was held at the Academy Lyric Theatre.

 

Academy Director Professor Adrian Walter AM extended his sincere congratulations to all graduates at the ceremony. He feels proud of what the graduates have achieved and encourages them to contribute to the society and the performing arts industry. Professor Walter expressed that the Graduating Class of 2019 is a special class as the Academy celebrates its 35th Anniversary this year. He advised the graduates “to embrace a sense of adventure, innovation, discovery and creativity, all of which come together to define the spirit of the Academy as a leading performing arts institution in the region.”

 

Professor Walter mentioned that according to the QS rankings released a few months ago, the Academy was ranked no. 1 in Asia and 13th in the world in the QS category of performing arts institutions. Professor Walter added, “While it is gratifying to receive such accolades, the Academy will continue to aspire to maintain the highest levels of excellence in its work in performing arts education, nurturing young and emerging talent in the performing arts and importantly, enriching the cultural life of the Hong Kong community.”

 

This year, 306 graduates from Schools of Chinese Opera, Dance, Drama, Film and Television, Music, and Theatre and Entertainment Artswere conferred Master’s Degrees, Bachelor (Hons) Degrees, Advanced Diplomas, Diplomasor Certificates.
