The Master of Arts in Performing Arts Studies is the Academy’s pioneering postgraduate programme dedicated to cultivating reflective, critically engaged thinkers in the performing arts. Designed for both arts practitioners and individuals from other disciplines, the programme offers a rich interdisciplinary journey that deepens students’ understanding of diverse performance traditions while sharpening their research, analytical, and communication skills. With access to elective courses across all six Academy Schools, students explore the performing arts through multiple lenses—artistic, cultural, theoretical, and community based—gaining the tools to navigate and contribute meaningfully to Hong Kong’s dynamic arts landscape. Graduates emerge as confident cultural advocates and leaders, ready to shape the future of the creative and performing arts sectors.

入學要求

Applicants should hold a recognised Bachelor’s degree, normally with Second Class Honours (Upper Division) or above, or an equivalent academic standing. As the medium of instruction is English, applicants must demonstrate language proficiency through an IELTS score of 6.0 (Academic) or a TOEFL iBT score of 78 or above. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview conducted in English, providing an opportunity to discuss their interests, aspirations, and readiness for postgraduate study in the performing arts.

課程結構

表演藝術文學碩士

The MA in Performing Arts Studies comprises 24 credits, combining core theoretical grounding with flexible elective pathways. Students complete three required courses (9 credits) that build foundational knowledge in research and practice as research. They then tailor their learning through 15 credits of electives, choosing from a wide range of courses such as cultural diversity, identity and popular music, critical studies in arts education, and independent research. The Independent Research elective course (6 credits) allows students to work on a specific topic under the guidance of a practitioner/ academic.  This structure allows students to design a study plan aligned with their artistic, academic, and professional goals, while benefiting from the Academy’s interdisciplinary environment and expert faculty guidance.
