Chieh-hua Hsieh will discuss how architectural training influenced his career as a choreographer and digital dance creator. In this talk, he will demonstrate and showcase his artistic journey, as well as discuss how integrating technology can enhance and transform the overall experience of his choreography for both performers and audiences. Drawing on his valuable experience of incorporating technology into choreography, Chieh-hua will share his valuable insights and practical advice for dance artists to further develop their skills while maintaining a balance between the artistic and technical aspects of creating choreography that incorporates technology.


About Chieh-hua Hsieh 
Chieh-hua Hsieh, the Artistic Director of Anarchy Dance Theatre. Chieh-hua’s works have a unique quality, derived from his dual background in architecture and dance. His pieces possess strong structural characteristics and embody creative perspectives regarding time, space and energy in both physical and digital way, which are deeply embedded within layers of meaning. Chieh-hua’s acclaimed works of choreography include Second Body, Seventh Sense, The Eternal Straight Line and CyborgEros , which mainly focus on interactive dance performance. Chieh-hua has been invited to several international festivals including Ars Electronica, TodaysArt Festival, and the George Town Festival. Since 2015, he has co-created a series of dance-installations with choreographer I-fen Tung and Chang Ko-Yang such as You Choreograph and Exercise series, which seeks to expand the expression of dance beyond traditional concepts of “performance.” Chieh-hua was also the director/choreographer for section one of the opening ceremony of the 2017 Taipei World University Games.
