Biography
New Zealand born and raised, Cameron McMillan is a London based choreographer and dance artist with an international performance and creative career spanning contemporary dance, ballet, opera, film, fashion and commercial fields. With a focus on hybridity, he expands his technical and stylistic foundations, blurring the boundaries of form, exploring emotional and theatrical landscapes across a range of performance mediums.
Australian Ballet trained, he has danced the works of some of the world’s finest choreographers across ballet and contemporary dance. A leading dancer for Rambert, English National Ballet, Royal New Zealand Ballet, and Sydney Dance Company and as freelance dancer for Sadler’s Wells, Parco Japan, Bonachela Dance Company, Australian Dance Theatre amongst others.
His work has been presented by for companies and key institutions including Ballet Vlaanderen, Rambert, Royal New Zealand Ballet, Queensland Ballet/Brisbane Festival, Royal Ballet and Opera, English National Ballet, Balett Pécs, Milwaukee Ballet, Oper Frankfurt, Czech National Theatre, Rambert School, Central School of Ballet, Trinity Laban, HfMDK Frankfurt, Palucca Hochschule Für Tanz Dresden, Hong Kong Academy For Performing Arts, BBC, Channel 4.
He holds a Master of Arts with Distinction in Choreography from the University of Kent and CSB School as a Leverhulme Scholar, has been Artist in Residence at the Hong Kong Academy For Performing Arts (2017), Associate Artist with the UK's Dance East (2010-14) and a Sadler‘s Wells/Jerwood supported Artist (Summer University). In 2012 was the first dance artist to be awarded the New Generation Artist Award by The New Zealand Arts Foundation.
