Biography

Mr Ken Chan is a Senior Lecturer in Technical Direction in the School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.


Mr Chan obtained a Master of Business Administration from The Berlin School of Creative Leadership, powered by Steinbeis University – Schools of Next Practices in Germany, and possessed a Bachelor of Fine Arts from York University in Canada.


His teaching and research interests include technical leadership in large-scale productions, creative problem-solving methodologies, collaborative team innovation, and strategic approaches to theatre management.


Mr Chan has over 20 years of professional experience in technical theatre and production management. He has worked with two of Canada’s most renowned performing arts organisations—the Canadian Opera Company and the National Ballet of Canada—gaining extensive experience in technical leadership, creative problem-solving, and the execution of large-scale productions, and contributing to the design of Toronto's Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. He is currently focusing on the development of a curriculum that combines technical expertise with strategic thinking and creative leadership for the next generation of theatre professionals.
