The General Education Team teaches and coordinates a wide range of Liberal Arts and Academy Elective courses that offer undergraduate students at the Academy a broad knowledge base and skillsets that prepare them for their future performing arts careers. Furthermore, the Liberal Arts and Academy Elective courses are opportunities for students to look beyond their own major and collaborate with students from all six Schools, honing their communication skills and interdisciplinary thinking.
In their first two years, students join the following Liberal Arts courses:
Arts & Aesthetics
Contemporary Arts & Culture
The Philosophical Perspective
Innovation & Culture
Academy Electives give students the opportunity to build on this foundation by selecting courses related to their personal interests and future career goals. Electives cover humanities, social sciences, entrepreneurship, research, and more to hone students’ soft skills, intellectual curiosity, practical skillsets, and habits for lifelong learning.
