Biography
Dr Stella S C Lau is a Lecturer and Postgraduate Programme Leader in the Performing Arts Research Department at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She oversees the Master of Arts in Performing Arts Studies.
Dr Lau holds a Ph.D. from the Institute of Popular Music Studies at the University of Liverpool, specialising in the intersection of music, youth culture, and religion.
With 20 years of experience in higher education and the public sector, Dr Lau excels in academic leadership, curriculum development, and public audience engagement. She has collaborated with leading cultural and educational institutions, including the West Kowloon Cultural District, HKU SPACE, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Design Institute and University of Liverpool. An accomplished researcher in popular music and cultural studies, her work is published by major academic presses like Routledge (New York/London) and Palgrave Macmillan (London). Her monograph, Popular Music in Evangelical Youth Culture, along with her peer-reviewed articles, are held in the library collections of Harvard University and other top-tier global institutions.
