
Biography
Dr Jasper van Holsteijn is a Senior Lecturer in the General Education Department at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
Jasper holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from The University of Hong Kong, and received his MA degrees in Comparative Literature and Chinese Studies from Leiden University, The Netherlands.
Jasper has lived in Hong Kong since 2013. After obtaining his PhD degree, he first worked as an instructor and Associate Programme Director at Lingnan University. At this institution, he managed two MA programmes and taught a variety of courses in (social) innovation & entrepreneurship, research, and service-learning.
As General Education Team Leader, Jasper manages and teaches in the General Education courses (both the mandatory Liberal Arts courses and Academy-wide Elective courses) for undergraduate students. He also teaches courses on Research and Entrepreneurship for postgraduate students. Jasper is committed to innovative pedagogy and was a finalist for the University Grants Council Teaching Award 2022. His interests include teaching and learning technologies, liberal arts pedagogy, and speculative fiction.
