履历

Joined the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2007

Chan Ying Wai’s short film Someone's Running received the Best Film Award (Open Category) in Fresh Wave Short Film Competition 2008 and the Big Wave Award in Fresh Wave Short Film Festival 2009.

His beloved documentary works include Humming in the Journey (2003), which traces the inner world of a poet Wordic, and Landscape on the Other Side: Hong Kong Cinematographer Bill Wong (2010), which was shown in a tribute programme dedicated to two master cinematographers in the Hong Kong Film Archive.

Immersed in various disciplines of arts, he began to explore the possibilities between sound and image in recent years.

In 2013, his video installation As Distant As the Stars received the Cactus Prize in the Master of Arts in Fine Arts Graduation Exhibition organized by the Department of Fine Arts in the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Besides being a director, he has also served as sound designer in a number of independent short films.
