Biography

Dr Priscilla Tse is a Lecturer in Academic Studies - Chinese Opera in the School of Chinese Opera at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

 

Dr Tse obtained a PhD degree in Musicology from the University of Illinois. Her teaching areas include Cantonese opera research, history, and cross-media studies. Her research interests encompass Chinese music, performance practice, gender, and cultural politics. She has published articles in Asian Theatre Journal, Inter-Asia Cultural Studies, and International Communication of Chinese Culture.

 

Dr Tse is a recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Association for Chinese Music Research Rulan Chao Pian Publication Prize, the Association for Asian Performance Emerging Scholars Award, and the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship.

 

With over ten years of teaching experience in higher education, Dr Tse has held lectureships at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, University of Illinois, and Johns Hopkins University.
