Biography

Faye Leong is an actress, director, producer, educator and artistic director.  She has been actively engaged in the theatrical circles of Hong Kong and Taiwan for the past 20 years.

Faye graduated with a first class honours degree from the School of Drama of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 1997, majoring in Acting. During her academic years, she had achieved the Outstanding Actor Award thrice. After graduation, Faye joined The Urban Council Hong Kong Repertory as a full time professional actress and has been nominated and awarded the Best Actress or Best Supporting Actress by Hong Kong Federation of Drama Societies

A Malaysia born Chinese, Faye learned ballet since young and subsequently acquired her training in Hong Kong adopting the European and Stanislavski systems. In pursuit of her personal aspiration as an artist, she then moved on to Taiwan to explore the Eastern style performance and discipline.  During 2000 to 2004, Faye joined U-Theatre, where she devoted herself to a strict daily training regimen that included a full menu of martial arts, meditation, percussion practice, Tai Chi and the model of Jerzy Grotowski training. She participated in numerous repertoires roaming around the world and accomplished many magnificent projects, such as “Pilgrim to Tibet”, “Walking over Paris”, and visited “The Work center of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richard”. She also performed in some world renown arts festival, such as “The Next Wave Festival” in New York, “Biennale de La danse de Lyon” in France, “Haus der Berliner Festspiele” in Germany, “Bergen International Festival” in Norway, “Santiago International Festival” in Spain, etc.

From 2005 onwards, Faye together with other partners who share the same passion towards theatre arts formed a troupe in Taiwan called The Möbius Strip Theatre.  She assumed the role of Artistic Director and led various new concept projects in the company.  She curates and shapes the artistic development of these projects with the theme centers on the search of the body and the mind, including environmental theatre experiments took place in historical sites in Taiwan and platform for artist exchange and dialogues between Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Over the years, Faye strives to pursue diversity, precision and perfection in her works by not restraining herself to a limited form. She continuously engages herself in a wide spectrum of theatrical experiences and performances, and works with different directors from Hong Kong and Taiwan. Some of these works include:
