Shortlisted applicants have been notified via email. Please refer to the email for details of the audition.
Potential and passion for theatre is looked for in applicants. In addition, applicants should be able to speak fluent Cantonese and to read Chinese. Having satisfied the general admission requirements, which includes a satisfactory level of accomplishment in English language, and passed the preliminary selection, applicants will be invited for audition, the results of which will determine the applicants’ suitability for admission.
Owing to the large number of applicants, it is not possible for the Academy to provide any comments to individual applicants whether they are shortlisted or not. Applicants should note that the School will not return any submitted materials.
FIRST AUDITION
Selection is based upon review of school and HKDSE results or equivalent, previous experience in performing arts, letters of reference, and a written statement of personal goals. Applicants who pass the first screening will be invited to attend one or more auditions. For those who are unable to attend the audition at the Academy, his/her application will not be given further consideration.

Acting for Musical Theatre | |
Applied Theatre | • A one-minute monologue • A one-minute talent performance in any form |
Directing | • Expository writing • A one-minute monologue • A one-minute performance of an unaccompanied song |
Dramaturgy | • Expository writing • A one-minute original speech • A one-minute talent performance in any form |
SECOND AUDITION | |
Acting for Drama | • One monologue chosen by the School on the spot • One-minute monologue prepared by the candidate • A one-minute song |
Acting for Musical Theatre | • One monologue chosen by the School on the spot • A one-minute performance of an accompanied or unaccompanied song • A one-minute dance |
Applied Theatre | • Expository writing based on a given topic assigned on the spot • Drama workshop and improvisation |
Directing | • Creative writing based upon a given stimulus assigned on the spot • Small group discussion on given topics |
Dramaturgy | • Answer questions about Dramaturgy • Discuss an artwork and creative ideas in groups |
FINAL AUDITION | |
