Biography
Mr Kim Tam is a Lecturer in Screen Creative Producing in the School of Film and Television at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
Mr Tam obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Film and Television from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Mr Tam possesses over a decade of high-level industry experience across diverse formats. He spent eight years in the Hong Kong feature film industry, working with the production teams of legendary directors such as Ann Hui and John Woo, followed by two years contributing to the international reality franchise The Amazing Race.
Later, as a Producer at ViuTV and MakerVille, Mr. Tam oversaw a prolific slate of five to eight dramas annually. He became recognised for bringing a cinematic sensibility and film-level production rigor to television. Driven by a commitment to innovation, he consistently championed unconventional themes and experimental narratives that challenge traditional TV tropes.
Since joining the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) in 2021 as a Part-time Teacher and becoming a full-time Lecturer in 2023, Mr. Tam has been dedicated to bridging the gap between cinema and television, mentoring the next generation to approach their creative work with a professional and boundary-pushing mindset.
