Biography
Ms Chak Hoi-ling is a Lecturer in the School of Film and Television at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
Ms Chak obtained a Master of Fine Arts in Film Production and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Television from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts respectively. Her teaching and practice focus on picture editing and post-production, encompassing narrative and non-narrative productions. She guides students through the complete post-production workflow, from offline editing to final delivery and screening, including industry-standard non-linear editing platforms and professional delivery formats such as Digital Cinema Package (DCP), developing both technical proficiency and creative authorship.
With over a decade of experience in both higher education and the film industry, Ms Chak has developed an approach that integrates professional production workflows with teaching. Prior to her current academic appointment, she worked extensively in film post-production, including at Edko Films Limited, contributing to editorial and post-production departments on major Hong Kong feature films and together with all aspects of the industry-standard of promotional materials.
In recent years, Ms Chak has been involved in programme delivery, contributing to the design of practice-based learning models that emphasise artistic and aesthetic exploration across multiple production roles. She co-curated the first-year student art development exhibition, Stories in the Room: Identity, Objects, and Narrative (2026), in which students transformed their self-perception and personal identity into individual three-dimensional art works. In addition, her professional work includes editing the documentary Angels Are Dancing (2023) and the narrative film The House of Chi Fan (2023). These collaborative productions brought together students, faculty, and industry professionals, offering hands-on, industry-like learning experiences that integrate teaching with professional practice.
