Biography

Li Kar-yee, Karry is a Hong Kong-born composer with compositions featured in the New Music Festival in Seoul (Korea), Bangkok ACL(Asian Composers’ League), HK Musicarama, Spotlight On Young Musicians Concert Series, HK Hell Hot New Music Festival and the HK-Macao Collaboration Concert. Li was awarded the Cash Local Scholarship, the Parson’s Music Foundation Scholarship, the Spring-Time Stage Productions Scholarship, The Society of APA Scholarship and ExxonMobil Scholarship. Her work was also selected as the best composition in the HK New Generation Composition Competition. 


After receiving her Master Degree of Music with full-scholarship at the Academy, Li committed actively in music education and promoting creative art for the young generation. She was appointed as one of the directors of the HK Composers’ Guild from 2023. She has been teaching composition and music creating courses at the Academy and Education University of HK. She is currently a full-time lecturer at the Academy, teaching aural perception, composition, working as the coordinator of the musicianship course of the Junior Music Programme.
