Bachelor of Music (Honours)

The four-year Undergraduate programme is designed primarily for qualified Senior Secondary 3 school leavers who choose to engage in professional music training. It offers students intensive training in musical performance or composition to a professional level. Students will gain an in-depth knowledge of musical history and theory, as well as a wider appreciation of other cultures and art forms. The programme also aims to develop the students' intellectual, creative and interpretative capabilities, and an awareness of the role of the musician in society.

Performance Activities

Students at the Academy have more performing opportunities than is usual in most conservatories. The Academy hosts over 200 concerts each year, with students taking part in a wide range of solo, chamber music, orchestral, and choral activities, as well the collaborations with the Schools of Dance, Drama, Film and Television, and Theatre and Entertainment Arts, and the annual production of a fully staged opera.

The School has a close relationship with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble and the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, collaborating with them in joint public performances and workshops. Soloists and ensembles from the School have toured and performed in the UK, USA, China, Continent al Europe, Australia, Japan and neighbouring South East Asian Continental cities.
