Biography

BA(CUHK), MA(Pittsburgh)

Christopher Pak teaches Western Music History, World Music, Music and Society in Hong Kong, Modern Chinese Music History, and Research Methodology. He completed his undergraduate music studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and received his Master of Arts in ethnomusicology from the University of Pittsburgh. Currently he is a doctoral candidate, conducting research on the development of the modern Chinese orchestra. He has presented papers at the Society for Ethnomusicology, College Music Society, Centre for Asian Studies of the University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and University of Regensburg (Germany). His publications include several articles related to the development of modern Chinese music. Currently Pak also serves as member of the local RILM (Repertoire International de Litterature Musicale) committee.
