Mr Chen Dong is a Lecturer in Chinese Music in the School of Music at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

Mr Chen obtained a degree from the Xi’an Conservatory of Music. His teaching and artistic practice areas include dizi and xiao performance.

Mr Chen is a renowned dizi and xiao performer and a National First-Class Musician in China, with extensive experience in performance, leadership, and teaching. He previously held key leadership positions in the Guangdong National Orchestra, serving as Director of Operations and Training, Leader of Wind Section and Principal of Dizi. He has also contributed to the field in various professional capacities such as Vice President of the Guangdong Province Nationalities Orchestra Society and Council Member of the Guangdong Musicians Association. 

Mr Chen received training from Sun Yongzhi, Liu Kuanren and Ma Di and toured more than twenty countries across Asia, America, Europe, and Africa. His album Dream Garden has garnered critical acclaim, and his innovative “Jun Dizi” has obtained a national patent which is widely recognised and adopted in music education circles.

Mr Chen has also received praise and popularity in China , including awards at the 12^th Guangdong Art Festival and national and provincial competitions.
