Season 2023 Recruitment

Established and directed by The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) with the support of the Swire Group as Founding Patron, the Greater Bay Area Youth Orchestra (GBAYO) aspires to be one of the finest youth orchestras in the world.  It aims to provide a platform for the highest standard of classical orchestral performance in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) by offering professional training and coaching by world-class musicians to talented young musicians across the region.  The inaugural training camp and concert tour will be held in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Macau in August 2023, offering the participants a unique and multicultural environment for music performance and cultural exchange.

Training Camp & Concert Tour Period : Jul 31 – Aug 16, 2023

Training Camp Location Hong Kong

Concert Tour : Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, & Macau (*Concert locations are subject to change)

Fee : Free of Charge (Tuition and accommodation included)

 

Eligibility

16 - 24 year-old musicians who were either born/ graduated/ are living / studying / working in the Guandong- Hong Kong- Macao Greater Bay Area

 

Selection Process

First Round – Interested and eligible musicians should send the application form by email to below designated institutes or organisation in your region by below deadlines:

  • Hong Kong – Mar 17, 2023

  • Guangdong – Feb 10, 2023

      Xinghai Conservatory of Music: gbayo@xhcom.edu.cn

  • Macau – Feb 10, 2023

(Application email subject format: “Instrument” + “Name” + “Age” + “School/ Company Name)

 

Second Round – Applicants should send the link of audition video to the designated institutes or organisation by email before Mar 31, 2023.  The audition video must follow the audition requirements and be uploaded to Youtube or Youku.  The GBAYO finalist and waiting list will be decided by the audition panel.
