A Journey to Regaining Inner Strength

A Journey to Regaining Inner Strength

Under the shadow of the long-lingering pandemic, recent research finds young children suffering from study pressure and developing anxiety subconsciously. In hope to help raise awareness amongst parents in the mental healthiness of their children and provide early intervention by strengthening their mental resilience, the Academy organised a workshop for releasing pressure in a sustainable and self-sufficient way through sound. Over a hundred underprivileged young children and their family members were invited to participate.

Foster Mental Resilience in Children Through Discovery in Performing Arts

Foster Mental Resilience in Children Through Discovery in Performing Arts

It is undeniable that the prolonged pandemic has a multifaceted and substantial impact on the mental wellbeing of children and adolescents. Aiming to promote children’s mental wellbeing, and to foster mental resilience against adversity and develop an appreciation for performing arts through their exposure to and experience in performing arts, UNICEF HK invited the Academy to join hands to co-organise a special project, “Merry-go-around HKAPA”, which offered art-indulging and fun-filled activities for over 500 children from underprivileged families between August to December 2022. Ms Judy Chen, Chairman of UNICEF HK, was grateful that HKAPA brought children into the world of performing arts and realised the vision of all-round development.

Experience Live Operatic Performance

Experience Live Operatic Performance

With the generous support of our patron, Asian Insurance Company Limited, the Academy has been able to conduct the Opera Scenes school tours and foster a broader appreciation in music amongst young people in the past years.

In December 2022, a total of 17 student vocalists went to Salesian English School and Carmel Holy Word Secondary School to perform scenes from four famous operas - Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) and Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Abduction from the Seraglio) by Mozart, A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Benjamin Britten and Candide by Bernstein. After the performances, the student vocalists invited the secondary school students to go up on stage to learn some signing techniques, foreign language phrases and stage acting.
