The 32nd Graduation Ceremony of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts - Honorary Fellow Mr Cheung Hok-yau gives his best wishes to graduates

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (the Academy) hosted its 32nd Graduation Ceremony today. Guest of Honour Mr Cheung Hok-yau, the Academy’s honorary fellow, delivered a speech on the occasion. The ceremony was officiated by Council Chairman Professor Stephen Chow Chun-kay GBS SBS BBS JP.


Mr Cheung Hok-yau, shared with the graduates about his experience over the past 34 years in the performing arts industry. Mr Cheung said that it is “love” that drives everyone to choose the performing arts profession, “With love in our heart, we can overcome all obstacles – giving no thought to the sweat and tears we have shed, counting as nothing the pleasures of youth we have given up to pursue a path that has no guaranteed destination. Dear graduands, let us keep this flame of love and passion burning. It is what will keep us going through thick and thin, enabling us to persist till the end and make this a lifelong profession.”

 

Academy Director Professor Adrian Walter AM extended his sincere congratulations to all fellow graduates at the ceremony and expressed his immense feeling of pride and satisfaction. Professor Walter wished the graduates all the best in their future life endeavours and hoped that they would continue to contribute to the cultural and creative landscape and development of Hong Kong, the Mainland and the region, “Your passion for the performing arts, together with your hard work and commitment have equipped you well to move forward in the rapidly expanding creative and performing arts industries. I am sure we all agree that a passion for the performing arts is a key to a happy, rewarding and fulfilling life.”

 

This year, 288 students from Schools of Chinese Opera, Dance, Drama, Film and Television, Music, and Theatre and Entertainment Arts were conferred Master’s Degrees, Bachelor (Hons) Degrees, Advanced Diplomas, Diplomas or Certificates.
