About the Scheme
The Scheme aims to motivate Hong Kong secondary school students who have distinguished achievements in performing arts to apply for admission to The Academy through the encouragement of their principals.
A maximum of 6 nominations for each secondary school, i.e. only 1 recommendation for each of our 6 disciplines, namely Chinese Opera, Dance, Drama, Film and Television, Music, and Theatre and Entertainment Arts
The following special arrangements will be made for the recommended applicants:
Ｗaiver of application fee; and
Guaranteed audition/interview
The Scheme was first introduced in 2019 for admission in the Academic year 2020/21 and initially each secondary school was only allowed to nominate one distinguished student. In view of the positive feedback, the Academy has increased the quota for nomination to a maximum of six students, one for each School of the Academy, namely the Schools of Chinese Opera, Dance, Drama, Film and Television, Music, and Theatre and Entertainment Arts, in 2020 for admissions from 2021/22 onward.
New arrangement for 2027/28 application submission
The Main Round runs from 7 September to 8 December 2026. This is also the deadline for Principal’s Recommendation Scheme (PRS) for local secondary schools.
The Clearing Round will start from 9 December 2026. Consideration of applications submitted during Clearing Round is subject to the availability of places.

* If applicants submit their applications after the Main Round deadline, there is no guaranteed that they will be given an audition or interview.
