A recurring series of the School of Chinese Opera, Gongs and Drums will be staged at the Academy Rita Tong Liu Drama Theatre presenting four classical Cantonese opera excerpts. The performance will take the audience to savour the beauty of Cantonese opera and to celebrate the collective effort of students from the Music and Performance Majors of the School. Excerpts include “Bestows the Gift of a Sword at Baihua Pavilion” from Phoenix Mountain, “Scramble for Umbrella” from The Moon Pavilion, “Autumn River” from The Story of Jade Hairpin and Wu Song in the Inn. The renowned Cantonese and Peking opera master, Mr Lau Shun is invited to be the guest director of the last two excerpts.
