Academy Drama: Planning Our City

Exploring our city through the lens of city planning, Planning Our City is a pioneering documentary theatre work about Hong Kong city planning.

From a fishing village to a modern city, is this change in Hong Kong a miracle of the Lion Rock spirit, facilitated by the Laissez-faire policy? The historical record has revealed that the Town Planning Board was already founded in 1922. There is always urban planning around us, but are we aware of that?

We interviewed urban planners, social designers, architects, scholars, etc. to understand what urban planning is. Who plans? How to plan? There is no city without people. We shape the city, and the city shapes us. In this new documentary theatre work on Hong Kong urban planning, we imagine together how Hong Kong could continue its journey as a city, as our city.
