Elizabeth Wang has been serving in the television industry since 1967 and starred in many well-known drama series. With her vivid and superb acting, Ms Wang has created many characters which left long-lasting impression among the audience.

Ms Wang has gained enormous popularity in her singing career and her songs were prevalent in the past decades. In 2005, Ms Wang received the ‘Golden Needle Award’ by Radio Television Hong Kong, recognizing her remarkable contributions to the music arena.

In 1983, Ms Wang got into the Chinese opera industry and later formed her troupes. Ms Wang has made enormous efforts on refining her singing skills for the Cantonese opera. She also developed some new creative plays by adapting western famous operas, such as Macbeth and Madam Butterfly. Ms Wang was the first lady being elected to chair the Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong from 1992-1997. She strived for developing the Association into a more professional organisation, training the future hopefuls and lifting the status of Cantonese Opera in the society, such as running classes jointly with the Chinese University of Hong Kong, to provide chances for the youth to be trained as professional performers. Ms Wang was elected to chair the Association in the third time in 2007.

In 1981, Ms Wang was selected one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Hong Kong. She was appointed as a Member of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council in 1996-1997. Ms Wang was the first artist appointed as the Hong Kong/Macau Delegate of the National People’s Congress from 1988-1997. She actively brought in her insights benefiting the entertainment industry and general public. From 1998 till now, she has been the member of National Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. In 2004, she was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star by the Hong Kong SAR Government. In 2007, Ms Wang was conferred the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters by The City University of Hong Kong, received the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award and the World Outstanding Chinese Award by the World Chinese Business Investment Foundation Ltd. In 2008, she was appointed as the Member of the Performing Arts Committee under the Board of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority.

Ms Wang is famous not only for her achievements that spans different media, but also for her dedication, perfectionist attitude towards work, and a genuine love for the stage. She is regarded as a Hong Kong icon for all the values she represents and for the attributes she shares with her fellow Hongkongers.
