PART-TIME FRONT-OF-HOUSE USHERS

Reporting to the Front-of-house Manager of Venue Performance Office, the postholders assist in front-of-house and venue management duties for performances and events hosted in the Academy venues, with the following key responsibilities:

(a) To check tickets, distribute house programmes, direct and guide the patrons to their seats;
(b) To carry out the venue regulations, perform duties with a walkie-talkie in an environment of stage lighting (usually in dim light) and sounds, and maintain communication with the patrons and on-site staff;
(c) To perform crowd control during the event and patrons dispersal; and
(d) To perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

[Notes: Appointees need to wear uniform and walk or stand continuously for a long period of time. They also need to navigate steep staircases inside the venues and are required to work irregular hours and shifts in daytime and at night from Mondays to Sundays including public holidays and may need to work till midnight. A minimum of 3 hours per session on an on-call basis.]

Applicants should have:
(a) At least 5 subjects at Grade E/Level 2 or above in the HKCEE/HKDSEE, including English Language (Syllabus B) and Chinese Language (HKDSEE "Attained" grade in Applied Learning is equivalent to Level 2);
(b) Pleasant personality with strong communication and problem-solving skills;
(c) Good command of spoken English, Cantonese and Putonghua; and
(d) Ushering or relevant experience is an advantage.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Appointment will be on a contract basis for up to 1 year. The starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
