The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) will present the HKSAR 25th  Anniversary Celebration Concert on July 8, 2022, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR. This special concert features distinguished soloists, composer, and conductor from the Academy. With generous support from the Swire Group, the concert will be livestreamed on the Academy website and live broadcast on RTHK TV for members of the public in Hong Kong and the Mainland to join and celebrate this joyous occasion.

The Academy is grateful for Swire Group’s support of this celebration concert and is honoured to be in collaboration with three art institutions in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, namely Xinghai Conservatory Music, Shenzhen Arts School and the Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra Association. Performance excerpts from these institutions will be screened at the concert, as a gesture of solidarity that shows the ability of music in strengthening the bonding within the Area, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic.

The programme will be conducted by Sharon Andrea Choa, Head of Conducting and Cultural Leadership (Music) of the Academy. Three orchestral works will be performed by the Academy Symphony Orchestra, including Dai Pai Dong, an award-winning work inspired by the unique Hong Kong culinary culture by local composer Florence Cheung Pui-shan, Associate Professor (Composition) of the School of Music, and Chinese composer Wang Danhong’s guzheng Concerto Rushi. To conclude the concert, the Orchestra will be joined by the Academy Choir to perform Beethoven’s phenomenal work, Choral Fantasy in C minor, Op.80.

The Academy will closely monitor the development of the pandemic. Latest updates on the event will be announced on the Academy’s social media channels.
