Postgraduate, Undergraduate and Post-Secondary Programmes

Postgraduate Programme

The Academy’s Postgraduate programmes provide opportunities for talented graduates from Hong Kong and abroad to obtain internationally recognised postgraduate qualifications in performing arts and theatre and entertainment arts. The practice-oriented programmes foster artistry, develop advanced skills, provide in-depth knowledge, and build professionalism for students who demonstrate the potential for excellence. Postgraduate students undertake practical research, apply theory to professional practice, make original contributions to their areas of specialisation, and gain the specialised means and assurance to continue in life-long careers. While valuing independent accomplishment within contexts of collaboration and team effort, study at the Postgraduate level is intended to enable practicing artists to develop into potential leaders in the arts.

 

Undergraduate Programme

The four-year undergraduate programmes provide students with practice-based professional education in the areas of study encompassing Chinese Opera, Dance, Drama, Film and Television, Music, and Theatre and Entertainment Arts. The programmes aim to develop students with a significant body of knowledge, skills, and competencies in relevant disciplines in order to prepare them for professional careers in the regional and in the world.

 

Graduates are expected to demonstrate comprehension, creative and intelligent engagement with forms, practices, techniques, traditions, histories, and applications of performance and production in support of established practices in their discipline. They should possess the following attributes after four years of study:

  • Inter-disciplinary Collaborators
  • Effective Communicators
  • Lifelong Learners
  • Global Citizens

Their work is expected to be informed by ideas and practice of their discipline.

 

Post-secondary Programme

Diploma in Foundations programmes
The one-year Diploma in Foundations programmes are feeders to the Undergraduate programmes of the Academy which are structured to impart a broad understanding of and develop skills in the students' chosen performing arts/ technical arts field in preparation for their further studies at undergraduate level at the Academy.

 

Professional Diploma programmes
The two-year Professional Diploma programmes are suitable for those students who seek for professional performance training and to prepare them for pursuing professional careers in their chosen disciplines best suited to their artistic backgrounds.

 

Certificate programme
The one-year Certificate programme is structured to provide students with practical experience in the production disciplines of theatre, entertainment and performing arts. A student who has successfully completed this programme should have the ability to enter the entertainment industry at junior level.
