Embark on a Magical Journey in May – HKAPA Drama: The Wonderful World of Dissocia by Anthony Neilson

The School of Drama of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), in collaboration with the School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts, will embark on a journey at The Wonderful World of Dissocia on 6 – 9 May 2026 at the Rita Tong Liu Drama Theatre, HKAPA. This weird and magical play takes a trip away from reality, exploring a world of psychological disconnection.
Somewhere between a delayed transatlantic flight and the clocks going back, Lisa has lost an hour of her life – she’s an hour slow, and it’s spoiling her life. So she’s travelled to the country of Dissocia to try and get it back, but Dissocia is a surreal and wonky place, populated by a people with a strange logic of its own, both innocent and violent, all under threat from the Black Dog King. But in the second act, Dissocia has disappeared back inside Lisa’s head.
"The final School production of the year, directed by Head of Directing Acty Tang and performed by Year 3 and Year 4 Acting students, is not to be missed!" Says Tony Wong, designated Dean of the School of Drama.
Acty Tang, Director of the play and Head of Directing of the School of Drama adds, “This play is both a madcap fantasia and a moving drama, put together with talented and imaginative actors and designers. I think it is a production that really celebrates the joy of being together -- the essence of theatre.”
Anthony Neilson’s bold and moving fantasia was originally produced for the 2004 Edinburgh Festival, and won Best New Play at the Critics' Awards for Theatre in Scotland 2004-5.
