HKAPA Open Day 2026 - Get ready to celebrate creativity and passion on 8 March!

HKAPA Presents Academy Chinese Opera: Gongs and Drums

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) will present its Open Day 2026 on Sunday, 8 March. The Wanchai Main Campus and the historic Béthanie Landmark Heritage Campus will be open to the public, featuring over a hundred free performing arts activities presented by students and faculty of six Schools of the Academy.

Professor Anna CY Chan, Director of the Academy, says, "Our Open Day, an annual flagship community event of the Academy, is for everyone to explore the two campuses. It promises to be a fun-filled day brimming with activities crafted with passion by our dedicated students and faculty. Let us come together to witness how the Academy nurtures creativity and expands the horizons of the performing arts."

Exciting activities for the Open Day include Chinese and Western music concerts, musicals, drama, excerpts from Chinese opera, dance workshops, and thrilling opportunities for the public to explore the wonders of film production, experience virtual productions, and watch short films created by students. Visitors will also have the chance to enter backstage, admire sets, props, and costumes up close, experience technical creations, and engage in discussions with stage and project management, immersing themselves in a variety of artistic activities.

Meanwhile, there will be interactive AI workshops, and the Academy’s library will recommend personalised films for visitors. Sharing booths from the six Schools, EXCEL (Extension and Continuing Education for Life), and Alumni Association will be available, as the Academy warmly invites the public to experience the charm of performing arts and discover the vibrant campus life and diverse programmes on 8 March - coinciding with International Women’s Day!
