Leveraging Learning Objects and Open Educational Resources (OER) through Canvas

This workshop first introduces learning object (LO) and the principles of using multimedia resources in pedagogy. It then provides some suggestions for designing your own online materials and searching for free educational resources. Hopefully, your course design on Canvas can improve the overall teaching and learning experience and better complement the face-to-face classes.

Date: October 5 (Thu)
Time: 13:00 - 14:00 (in English)
Facilitator: Dr. Misty Choi, Senior Project Manager (Digital Learning)

AI Multimedia Workshop for students

Join us for an engaging workshop on AI generative images and videos, where we'll explore the fundamentals of AI-powered multimedia production. In this session, we'll begin by providing how AI generative works. Then, we'll have hands-on learning as we explore the practical usage of two powerful tools: Leonardo AI and Pika Labs.

Leonardo AI is an AI-powered image generator that can create beautiful and unique images based on your prompts. Pika Labs, on the other hand, is an AI video generator that can turn text or images into amazing videos. So you could use them to create stunning visuals.

By the end of the workshop, we will also provide examples showcasing how AI enhances multimedia production. At the end of the workshop, we will present some examples showcasing how industry utilises AI to enhance multimedia productions.

Important notice regarding recent Cybersecurity Threats and Breaches

Recent cyberattacks on public organisations in Hong Kong highlight the significance of individual vigilance in sustaining cybersecurity. Each user has a critical role in safeguarding systems and data from potential threats by adhering to robust cybersecurity hygiene practices.

This includes careful handling of emails, especially those from unfamiliar sources or with questionable attachments. Use strong, unique passwords for all accounts, update them regularly, and never share them. Always ensure your operating systems, antivirus software, and applications are updated with the latest security patches. Exercise caution with phishing attempts and be wary when providing personal or sensitive information online, always verifying the legitimacy of such requests. In the coming weeks, EDuIT will arrange a series of promotion exercises, together with tips and guidelines, to further aid in strengthening our collective cybersecurity practices.

Classroom Equipment Training

EDuIT held 13 sessions of classroom equipment training in September. During the training sessions, guidance on setting up the equipment and hands-on exercises were given to teachers and students, helping them to get familiar with how to use the classroom equipment. EDuIT plans to offer additional workshops to further enhance teaching and learning at the Academy. For those who missed the training sessions, we have prepared a quick-start guide and made it available on our EDuIT website.
