The Library at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts is looking to recruit a Library Officer. The postholder, who reports to the Assistant Librarian I (Technical Services) will be required to assist in managing and maintaining the Library’s resources in all formats, including physical, digital and online electronic formats, while also co-ordinating activities and delivering user education programs to enhance resource utilization. The postholder will be required to work in both the Wanchai and Bethanie Campus and may need to work in evenings, on weekends and public holidays.

 

Applicants should:
(a) Have a recognized university degree in any discipline; 
(b) Normally have a minimum of 3 years’ working experience in relevant section of libraries; 
(c) Have a good command of written and spoken Chinese and English; 
(d) Have experience in handling subscription renewals and strong analytical skills; 
(e) Demonstrated ability to coordinate activities and conduct user education programs;
(f) Proficiency in computer applications including MS Word, Excel and Chinese word processing; and
(g) Possess good interpersonal skills and customer service skills.

 

Preference will be given to those who possess one or more of the following: 
(a) Previously worked in an academic library, or higher educational institution.
(b) Knowledge of ExLibris Alma and Primo VE would be considered a strong asset.


TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Appointment will be on a two-year renewable contract, subject to performance and mutual agreement.  A gratuity payment equals up to 10% of the total basic salary earned during the contract period may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period.  The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Academy’s contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, equals 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits.  Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
