Info Day 2022 on 8 October!

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) has nurtured many exceptional talents. Our graduates are not only widely recognised and awarded, but also continuously challenging themselves and achieving breakthroughs in performing arts.

To help young talents in performing arts gain a better understanding of the Academy and what it can offer them, we have invited six award winning alumni with outstanding achievements in their disciplines including two Artists of the Year from the 16th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards to share their learning experiences. These Old Friends of the Academy will explain how the Academy broadened their horizons and inspired them to pursue a successful professional career in performing arts. Their interviews will be broadcast online at 12 noon during the HKAPA Info Day 2022 on 8 October.

We hope that the insightful stories of our alumni will encourage aspiring talents of Hong Kong to follow in their footsteps and imagine how The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts could nurture their talents. If you are considering joining our artistic and academic community, the Undergraduate and Post-secondary Programme admissions for the academic year 2023/24 has already started. Seize the chance to exert your talents for a brighter future!

A study on the relationship between theatre arts and student literacy and mathematics achievement showed that students whose language arts curricula were infused with theatre arts often outperformed their counterparts, who received no arts integration, in both math and language arts (Inoa, R., Weltsek, G., & Tabone, C.).

The Creative Journey Outreach Programme 2022/23 of HKAPA provides free theatre arts experience including Chinese Opera, Dance, Drama, Film and Television, Music, and Theatre and Entertainment for secondary school students. The diverse selection of performing arts activities are now open for registration.

Sign up now to help students stimulate their creativity, innovation and appreciation for performing arts under the STEAM education approach.

First Meeting with the Clown in You

First Meeting with the Clown in You

Research shows that clowns can induce hearty laughter and be a key part of laughter therapy to reduce anxiety and stress. The Young Friends of the Academy's first-ever on-campus workshop Meet the Clown in You was specially arranged for Young Friends members to relieve stress caused by the pandemic and learn more about modern clown theatre while having fun.

The workshop was successfully held on 23 Aug (Tue) at the Academy's Drama Blackbox in collaboration with a theatre troupe founded by our alumni, Free-To-Play. The participants were very committed during the theatre exercises and gave inspired performances donning the red nose!

Young Friends of the Academy membership and programmes are entirely free for secondary school students.
