HKAPA Open Day Draws a Crowd of About 7,000 Visitors for Over a Hundred Free Activities Celebrating Creativity and Expanding the horizons of performing arts

Today, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) mounted a collaborative showcase featuring over a hundred free performing arts activities and attracting about 7,000 visitors to the Wanchai Main Campus and the Bėthanie Landmark Heritage Campus in Pokfulam.

Professor Anna CY Chan, Director of the Academy, remarked, “We were truly delighted to welcome members of the public to our Academy Open Day and to share the joy and excitement of the performing arts with the wider community. It was heartwarming to see families, students, friends and some first-time comers gather together to enjoy more than 100 engaging activities across our two distinctive campuses — the vibrant Wanchai Main Campus and the historic Béthanie Campus.  Open Day is always a special occasion for us. Beyond showcasing what we do, it is about creating moments of fun, inspiration and connection. Seeing laughter in our studios, applause in our theatres, and curiosity in every corner of the campus reminded us how the performing arts can uplift spirits and bring people closer together.  For over four decades, the Academy has been committed not only to nurturing outstanding talent, but also to enriching the cultural life of our community. We are grateful for the overwhelming support and are honoured to contribute to the joy and vibrancy of our society through events like this.”

Exciting activities for the Open Day include Chinese and Western music concerts, musicals, drama, excerpts from Chinese opera, dance workshops, and thrilling opportunities for the public to explore the wonders of film production, backstage areas to admire sets, props, and costumes up close, experience technical creations, and engage in discussions with stage and project management, as well as interactive AI workshops.
