HKAPA Presents Academy Drama: The Life of Man – Tickets are selling fast!

The School of Drama and the School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (the Academy) are proud to present The Life of Man, to be staged from 26 to 29 November 2025 at the Academy’s Rita Tong Liu Drama Theatre. This performance is adapted from Russian playwright Leonid Andreyev’s The Life of Man written in 1906. Andreyev’s skilful use of symbolism and allegory compels the audience to confront the ephemerality of the human life, thereby exploring the meaning of life and death, an important subject in Russian Expressionist theatre.
Bringing this visionary piece to life is a talented ensemble of student actors and production teams, who seamlessly weave the original text with innovative interpretations to create a thought-provoking and deeply moving theatrical experience. Acting Dean of School of Drama Tony Wong can’t wait for the show, “The Life of Man, drew inspiration from Russian playwright Leonid Andreyev. It explored the arc of human existence – from birth to death – illuminating the resilience, tenderness, and transformative power of love and belief. The production showcased not only the students’ technical excellence but also their bold, innovative spirit.”
