Meeting Prospective Students at Career Fairs

Meeting Prospective Students at Career Fairs

We were invited by King George V School and Caritas Chai Wan Marden Foundation Secondary School to join their career fairs on 15 and 25 February respectively. Around 520 students from F.3 to F.6 participated in the fairs and approached our booths with great interest about our programmes and the performing arts. Many of them also registered to become Young Friends of the Academy on the spot so that they could enjoy our upcoming School productions, workshops and professional talks for free, along with other member-exclusive benefits.

We visit secondary schools regularly to introduce the Academy and performing arts to students, please contact us for more information and book a visit.

Deans Shared Their Performing Arts Journey in Expert Talks

Deans Shared Their Performing Arts Journey in Expert Talks

With the exciting opportunity to bring students closer to the world of performing arts, the Dean of Chinese Opera and the Dean of Dance were invited to share their journey in performing arts and insights about their professions with students from The Church of Christ in China Fong Yun Wah Secondary School and Kowloon Technical School respectively on 1 Feb. A total of 850 students attended the talks. Many of them were keen to learn about the future prospects in performing arts and raised many questions to learn more from our speakers.

The Academy offers Expert Talks and School Talks to secondary schools for different disciplines in performing arts, our programmes offered by the six Schools, and the latest trends in the industry. If you are interested in organising a life planning event in performing arts for your students, please contact us for more details.

Empowering Creativity for Serving the Community

Empowering Creativity for Serving the Community

Since its launch in the 2019/20 academic year, the Creative Project Fund has been providing annual funding to HKAPA students to develop creative projects which aim to implement “Arts for Everyone” and promote inclusiveness through the arts. From 2022/23 onward, we have received a generous donation from Ms Catherine SY Chan to continue to empower our students to build a caring society.

In the 3rd round of submissions in 2022/23, two outstanding projects have been selected. The first one is “At The Moment”, submitted by the students of the School of Drama, which will organise applied theatre performances with music, drawing and improvisation with live audio descriptions for the visually impaired. Targeting members of the Wanchai community, the other project led by a student of the School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts will hold exhibitions presenting the history and stories of 100 places in Wanchai to foster a sense of belonging in the local community. We look forward to sharing more details about their projects with you in the future.

Learn History from Live Operatic Performance

Learn History from Live Operatic Performance

Are you thinking of ways to stimulate your students in their studies? What about learning history from a live performance?

On 18 and 19 Apr 2023, Opera Scenes School Tour will bring excerpt performances from Giulio Cesare (Julius Caesar) to secondary schools. Giulio Cesare was considered a representative work of Handel, one of the greatest composers of the 18th Century. Based on historical events during the Roman civil war in Egypt, this classical opera tells the story of Julius Caesar's love affair with Cleopatra and how they try to bring peace to the turbulent relationship between the Egyptian and Roman empires.
